Eat Your Heart Out, Major Coffee Chain

Thanks to my wonderful Man Beast and my Rockin' MIL, I have in my possession, a Keurig. This machine, while initially pricey, is probably the best invention of all time! One might think that individually packaged coffees, teas, and cocoas, would be a waste of money. For those java drinkers who like drinking their Folders or Maxwell House, you would be right. However, if you're a gal (or guy) who likes a little variety in their life or has several caffeine drinkers with different tastes, I'd kindly ask you to reconsider.

Hot coffees, teas, and cocoas are great for winter, you say, but hello - it's 100 billion degrees outside! Yes, yes. It is hot. Which is why I ask you to behold:

The iced coffee - at a fraction of what major coffee would sell them. What you see here is an iced hazelnut with Splenda and 2% milk. If I were to break it down, I'd say it cost me maybe $1 (but probably a lot less). Keurig makes iced versions of their coffee favorites; they are supposed to be more bold and robust. Perhaps. But since I'm not a robust coffee drinker anyway, a lightened version of my hot favorite suits me just fine.

On a hot day when the funds are a bit low, a homemade ice brew is just what your soul ordered.

Rock Band 2

Remember that Guilty Pleasure post I posted not too long ago? Well, seems like the Man Beast has done it again. We are now the proud owners of Rock Band 2. Cool songs - that goes without saying.

Some improvements:

• Quieter Drums

Anyone who has the original RB, knows that loud drums were a huge turn off of the original peripherals. Rest assured, the new drums are much quieter. Another bonus: metal reinforced foot pedal!

• No-Fail Option

Okay, this is just the coolest feature evah! Imagine, playing RB2 as a family and even your littlest one (who happens to fail out - frequently) is able to play a whole set -- all because of a neat-o feature you can enable that makes failing impossible (I do believe I created a post eons ago about fulfilling your wildest dreams if failure (or failing, rather) were not an option.)

• Carry Over Songs

So, you worked your tail off unlocking all of the songs off RB, and even spent some hard earned money buying some songs (downloadable content - DC). You hesitate to buy RB2 because you just don't want to lose all that hard work. Check it out - everything will transfer! (DC is free, the RB songs transfer with a $5 patch - worth it, especially if you really like the RB sound track).

Expensive? Yes. Totally useless? Yes. Fun? Absolutely!

My Guilty Pleasure

Guilty Pleasures. Everybody has one. A year ago, I revealed that my guilty pleasure was South Park. You'll be glad to know I've moved on to bigger and better things:

Yes, I confess: I like video games. My favorite currently is Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. My band name is The Ivanators. Lame, I know. *sigh* I just cannot help myself. For those who are not aware, Guitar Hero is a game where you play a guitar as notes scroll down the screen.

Here is my other guilty pleasure:

Rock Band - very similar to Guitar Hero except that instead of just Mom playing, she pulls in the Man Beast (drums), The Boy (vocals) and Baby Gurl (bass). Quality family time.

Why would someone like me play games like these?

Because everyone wants to be a rock star!

Well, I want to pretend that I'm a rock star (without the booze and the wild life). I just like to belt out some B-52s, some Bon Jovi or some Lenard Skinnard.

Just for awhile...just for a bit. And usually, just on the weekends.

After all, who has time for games during the week?
